A2 My Film Company Ident - Riddle Films
My invented film company is named Riddle Films. This title was chosen because the word riddle denotes mystery and thought. This is a major part to the thriller and the supernatural/psychological genre, which my film company specialises in producing. The question mark brings forth the idea that these types of films are supposed to keep you guessing what's going to happen next and keep you on the edge of your seat in anticipation.
The creation of this Ident/Logo was very simple I used Trajan Pro and another font which complimented each other. This created an emphasis on the larger question mark.

A2 Planning - Target Audience
Looking at the genres close to my movie I think it would be ideal to make my movie rated 16. The target audience would be that of 16 – 25.
My audience would be mainly made up of a person who I expect to range from a teenager to someone in their late twenties. The reason I expect this to be the age range most likely to watch my movie is because of the genre of the movie and the fact that this is a popular genre for this age range.
My product should treat the audience as equal and not be patronising to them.
The person I expect my audience to look like is around 18, dresses casually and enjoys socialising with friends and listening to alternative music. Aiming my movie at the teen market is idyllic is a constantly growing audience and it enjoys the idea of something otherworldly but still has a sort of moral in the story.

A2 Planning - Fonts
The use of fonts on any poster is important. Therefore I need to pick a font that compliments the genre of my film and can be used on all media products relating to the film. The target audience is 16 - 25 so the font I use must attract their attention.
At the moment I have two possible fonts for two parts on my poster.
At the moment I have two possible fonts for two parts on my poster.
- Trajan Pro - I intend to utilise this font for my Title and tagline. It is an old and smart looking font and fits in with the simple design I intend to try to create with my poster.
- Steel Tongs - This font is to be used for the credits that are at the bottom of many conventional film posters. By pressing lower case letters it creates titles like Directed by, Written by, etc. This means my poster can be conventional and look professional.
A2 Planning - Ident
All major companies have an ident, they use their ident to symbolise and support who and what they are. An ident is important because it has to attract and be recognisable to their target audience .
20th Century Fox use their ident to show that they produce A list movies. They have an almost temple like structure to the monumental size their company is but also the 20th Century is shows their history as a film company.
Columbia Studios have a woman holding a torch. The woman could be seen as reminiscent of the Statue of Liberty and the light could denote that Columbia Studios is leading the way in films.
New Line Cinema use their ident to show that their purpose is to create good films, that they are not just after profit. New Line shows that they were relatively recent compared to the other companies.
I am planning at the moment to have my studio called "Riddle Films", I plan to use a giant question mark to represent my studio with Riddle Films in a smart font all in capitals underneath. This title was chosen because the a riddle denotes mystery, thought and trickery. This is a major part to the thriller genre as well as its sub-genre's the supernatural/psychological , which my film company specialises in producing. The question mark these types of films as a guessing game. Can you predict what going to happen before it does? If so then the film isn't doin its job. This type of genre is supposed to keep you on the edge of your seat in anticipation.
